Two hours ago I put up a post about interactive ping-pong. I talked about the possibilities it represented and imagined the future… well, the future is here and the old post is almost obsolete. Check this out…

A delicacy that enters through the eyes and ears, tickles the guts and pleasures the entire body. We’ll be posting more stuff from Mr. Uff promptly, so consider this an appetizer. It might take a bit longer, but we strongly recommend you download this flv.

Music With the Face

Daito Manabe (Director, Programmer, Compositor) experimenting musically through sensors connected to his face:

And a new Cadburys advert that seems to have been inspired by Mr. Manabe’s work, adding a couple funny looking kids into the mix:

Trippin’ with Colectiva

Do you ever want to change the way you see the world? Wouldn’t it be fun to hallucinate on your lunch break? Although we typically associate such phenomena with powerful drugs like LSD or mescaline, it’s easy to fling open the doors of perception without them: All it takes is a basic understanding of how the mind works.

The first thing to know is that the mind isn’t a mirror, or even a passive observer of reality. Much of what we think of as being out there actually comes from in here, and is a byproduct of how the brain processes sensation. In recent years scientists have come up with a number of simple tricks that expose the artifice of our senses, so that we end up perceiving what we know isn’t real – tweaking the cortex to produce something uncannily like hallucinations.

That is precisely why we invite you to take a trip with us…

And if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got more…

From AT.AW:

“Considering that it’s winter, it only seemed apt to do some ice hands…just fill up some latex gloves, freeze them and you’re set for any sort of mischief.”

Sarah Maple

Sarah Maple is giving the British art-world loads to talk about. She recently won the 4 New Sensations award, a new art prize for graduates, voted by the public online, organized by Channel 4 and The Saatchi Gallery. Her website reads:

Much of her inspiration originated from being brought up as a Muslim, with parents of mixed religious and cultural backgrounds. Understandibly, issues of identity are of huge interest to her.

Maple states that the aim of her work is: “to give my audience food for thought. I believe comedy is a great tool to achieve this, which is why I choose to portray my conceptual ideas through a light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek approach”.
