Hunting Fox
This animated GIF of BBCtwo footage showing a hunting fox has nothing to do with art, design or culture. Yet, it made me laugh…
Catalina Bartolomé
Catalina Bartolomé is an Argentinean photographer responsible for creating these beautiful and mysterious portraits.
Table-Dish-Cover
Korean design duo Maezm, made up of Cho Eun Whan and Shin Tai Ho, don’t cease to impress. First they did it with the very smart Sofa-Dress we featured a couple weeks back. Today, they deliver with their clever Table-Dish-Cover, made from molded silicon, making it easy for one to fold it, roll it, crush it, store it, wash it, and use it… thus substituting dishes and unnecessary serve-ware.
Friederike von Rauch
The color palette that Friederike von Rauch uses in all of his photographs is very earthly and pleasant. Although the subject matter might be considered mundane by some, it’s the way in which he composes each of his images that is very painterly and poetic. All of his work communicates a strong sense of serenity, making one want to submerge in his static photographed worlds to stay there forever.
NEWWORK MAGAZINE N°4
There’s a lot of fresh stuff going on in the latest issue of NEWWORK MAGAZINE (issue N°4). The publication recently hit stores, and includes contributions from Albert Watson, Wolfgang Weingart, Bruno Monguzzi, Julian Abram Wainwright, and Werner Jeker.
VOODOOVOODOO
To be perfectly honest, I’ve not been too into the latest wave of tumblr blogs that have been popping up left and right. Yet, my latest internet obsession is VOODOOVOODOO… a tumblr blog. I don’t know who’s responsible for keeping it up, but what I can assure you is that the curatorial line that he/she/they follow is very fresh and consistent. So, if you like these three images above, I highly recommend you check it out!
David Drebin
These highly-saturated photographs by David Drebin have a similar feel to those by David Lachapelle. In particular, I’m really really drawn to this first one. It’s off the hook!
An Open Letter to Lily Allen
Recently, Lily Allen gave everyone lots to talk about, not particularly for her music but for the copyright laws to “protect” it. As a result, Dan Bull decided to take matters into his own hands and respond to Allen’s backward remarks with lots of humor, sarcasm, and wit. Bull went on to create a tune called Dear Lily [an open letter to Lily Allen], in which he sampled one of her tunes and had his say on top of it (in a style thats somewhat reminiscent to The Streets).
