Imeüble is Bjørn Jørund Blikstad, a recent MFA graduate of the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, specialized in furniture design. His website is very minimal, and only contains documentation of one of his projects. Yet, that one project is this untitled bookshelf that is ohh sooo fine!

Indonesian designer Alvin Tjitrowirjo designed the ‘Linger’ Bench, a communal hand-made bench made of natural rattan wood. The design is obviously pleasing to the eye, yet what I particularly like about it the idea behind it: to get a group of people to come together and sit, linger, and socialize in it. Also, be sure to check out his three-person bench called “Mingle“.

Really diggin’ these mountainous sofas that I found at Beautiful/Decay designed by the Italian architect/artist/designer Gaetano Pesce.

Pesces’ sofas go really well with JK Keller’s Tantamount Series that I saw over at Today and Tomorrow. In it, he flattened the mountains’ elevation to a perfect horizontal line, in return he changed the ocean’s horizon to the original elevation of the mountains.

As part of their thesis show, students at the Beckmans College of Design of Sweden have created this design installation. The perspective principle is nothing new, as you all might remember Felice Varini’s incredible work using the same technique, and dating back to the 60’s. In addition, Bernard Voita’s magical photographs that were taken in the 90’s, which we featured last week, do the same. Yet, the way these kids are applying this principle is quite fresh, as visitors to the Greenhouse at the Stockholm Furniture Fair (which houses this show) are encouraged to interact and engage with the space and the design objects being displayed… Most of which have been very well concieved.
